Antique Police Chief Urges Newly Promoted Officers to Uphold Service During Upcoming Elections

·

In a ceremony held at the provincial headquarters in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) celebrated the promotion of several officers. APPO Director Col. Lea Rose Peña, during the event on February 6, 2025, emphasized the increased responsibilities that come with their new ranks, particularly in light of the upcoming National and Local Elections on May 12.

Col. Peña highlighted that the elections would demand extra effort from the police force, including extended hours and assignments in remote areas to ensure security. She stressed that the officers’ commitment would be crucial during this period. The promotion, she noted, should serve as motivation for the officers as they prepare for their roles in the elections.

The promoted officers, ranging in rank from major to corporal, were recognized for their years of service, achievements, and educational accomplishments. Peña also reported that the province has remained peaceful, with no gun ban violations recorded since the election period began on January 12.

She advised individuals with loose firearms to coordinate with the police before approaching checkpoints to avoid any issues. The joint operations between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue their random and scheduled checkpoints in Antique until June 11.
