Due to intense rainfall triggered by a shear line, numerous towns and cities throughout the Bicol Region have decided to cancel in-person classes at all educational levels in both public and private institutions on Friday. In Albay, the affected areas include Tabaco City, Malilipot, Tiwi, Camalig, Pio Duran, Daraga, Malinao, Bacacay, Guinobatan, Sto. Domingo, Manito, Rapu-Rapu, Ligao City, Legazpi City, Polangui, Jovellar, and Libon. Sorsogon has also seen class cancellations in Sorsogon City, Matnog, Castilla, Sta. Magdalena, Juban, Donsol, Magallanes, Pilar, Bulusan, Casiguran, Gubat, and Irosin. Additionally, in Catanduanes, classes were suspended in Pandan, Gigmoto, Baras, and at Catanduanes National High School in Virac. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a heavy rainfall warning at 8 a.m. for the provinces of Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Albay, and Catanduanes, with Camarines Norte experiencing moderate to occasionally heavy rains that could last two to three hours and potentially impact surrounding regions. PAGASA also noted that rainfall might be more intense in mountainous and elevated areas.
