BATANGAS CITY – The provincial government of Batangas has successfully engaged the motorcycle community to spotlight the region’s scenic spots and cultural heritage. Governor Hermilando Mandanas emphasized the importance of the Batangas Loop in promoting the province’s natural beauty and commitment to environmental conservation during a recent interview with the Philippine News Agency. The event saw participation from approximately 1,000 motorcycle enthusiasts over the weekend. Governor Mandanas expressed pride in the province’s numerous attractions and the warm hospitality of its residents. Key destinations included in the route were the National Shrine of Padre Pio in Santo Tomas City and the Taal Basilica, noted as the largest church in the Philippines and Asia, measuring 291 feet in length and 48 meters in width. Other notable stops were the Verde Island Passage, known for its exceptional marine biodiversity, and Montemaria, home to the world’s tallest statue of the Virgin Mary, standing at 322 feet from base to the tip of the cross on its crown. The rally also boosted local economies, with small businesses selling traditional Batangas products like lomi, Barako coffee, and balisong knives seeing increased patronage. Reggie Cruz, acting tourism officer of Cuenca, highlighted the event’s role in reinforcing the town’s nickname, ‘Home of the Bakers,’ allowing tourists to enjoy views of Mt. Maculot and Taal Lake alongside tasting local bakery delights. Security measures were in place with checkpoints and teams ensuring safety throughout the event.
