The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed a P96.5 million flood mitigation project in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, designed to shield local communities from the frequent floods they face. The project, situated in Barangay San Jose, began construction on April 8, 2024, and reached completion on February 1, 2025. According to Esperanza Tinaza, the information officer for DPWH Ilocos Region, the new structure is set to improve the area’s drainage system, reduce the impact of floods, and bolster the community’s ability to withstand severe weather conditions. Tinaza emphasized that the project reflects DPWH’s dedication to safeguarding vulnerable areas and promoting sustainable growth in Alaminos City. She further stated that by reducing flood risks, the initiative will protect both lives and property, enhance economic stability, and elevate the living standards of residents, paving the way for a more secure and resilient future.
