Pangasinan Breaks Ground on New 11-Story Government Center and Convention Hall

·

In a significant development for Pangasinan, Governor Ramon Guico III, alongside Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino and other officials, officiated the groundbreaking of a new 11-story provincial government center in Lingayen on February 20, 2025. The ambitious project, valued at approximately PHP2 billion, aims to streamline government operations by consolidating offices into a single, modern facility. Governor Guico emphasized the efficiency gains from having all offices in one vertical structure, which will also feature pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, an intelligent traffic system, and open spaces designed to global standards.

The first phase of the government center is slated for completion within the year, with the entire project expected to be finished within three to four years. The historic provincial capitol will remain intact, used for ceremonial purposes and official visits, with plans to enhance its structural integrity without compromising its historical value.

Accessibility challenges for the elderly and persons with disabilities led to the decision to construct a new facility rather than retrofit the existing capitol, as installing an elevator could compromise its structural integrity and alter its historic appearance.

Simultaneously, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new 1,500-seat convention center in Lingayen, funded with PHP30 million for its first phase, also expected to be completed this year. Governor Guico highlighted the economic benefits the convention center will bring to the town and surrounding areas, fostering economic activity and providing livelihood opportunities for residents.
