MANILA – The Philippines is set to experience widespread rainfall on Tuesday, influenced by four distinct weather systems. A low pressure area (LPA), currently positioned 155 km east southeast of Tagum City, Davao del Norte, is expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region. According to PAGASA forecaster Rhea Torres, there is a high likelihood that this LPA will evolve into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
Additionally, the shear line will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Bicol Region and Quezon. This weather phenomenon is also predicted to deliver moderate to heavy rainfall in areas such as Quezon, Camarines Norte, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will contribute to scattered rains and thunderstorms across the rest of Visayas and Mindanao. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, known locally as amihan, will bring rain to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, with isolated light rains expected in other parts of Luzon.
Strong winds and rough seas are forecasted to persist in northern and central Luzon, while moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are anticipated in the rest of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao. In other areas, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
