In a heartfelt address during the Senate’s final session of the year on Wednesday night, Senate President Francis Escudero expressed his deep appreciation and holiday greetings to his fellow senators and the dedicated staff. The session, held on December 18, 2024, marked the end of the year’s legislative activities.
Escudero specifically recognized the efforts of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel, and other senators who remained committed until the late hours of the session. He also extended his gratitude to the Senate staff, acknowledging their hard work and dedication, especially in light of the cancellation of the annual Christmas party.
In his speech, Escudero highlighted the crucial role of the staff, stating, “You are the ones who enhance our image in front of the camera, even though you work behind the scenes.” He emphasized their importance to the smooth operation of the Senate.
Concluding his message, Escudero offered prayers and hopes for a meaningful holiday season and a prosperous 2025. He expressed optimism for the future, saying, “Let us approach the new year with hope, faith, and the belief that 2025 will be better, more organized, and bring greater prosperity and peace.”
Despite the adjournment, Senate committees are still authorized to continue their work under Senate Resolution 21, ensuring ongoing discussions on pending legislation and investigations into national issues. The Senate is scheduled to resume its regular sessions on January 13, 2025.
