Rex Gatchalian, Secretary of Social Welfare, highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Marcos administration to enhance human capital through the Walang Gutom Program (WGP).
Speaking at the recent Walang Gutom Kusinero Cook-Off Challenge held at Dapa Gymnasium in Dapa, Surigao Del Norte, Gatchalian emphasized the importance of nutritional education learned by beneficiaries in this initiative.
The WGP hosted a culinary competition, featuring five teams with two members each, to display their prowess in preparing nutritious meals. The challenge aimed to provide a platform for showcasing innovative and creative culinary skills while adhering to the principles of providing affordable and nutritious meals, encapsulated in the motto: ‘masustansya, masarap, at murang pagkain’.
To ensure expert evaluation of the dishes, the DSWD enlisted Chef Marky Bartolome, a renowned culinary expert and social media influencer, as the competition’s official coach and judge.
The top-performing dish was a scrumptious salad and bola-bolang puso created by competitors Daisy and Arnold Lipio, who achieved an impressive score of 96%. They will go on to represent their province in the upcoming Regional Cook-Off Challenge.
