A recent nationwide survey conducted by the OCTA Research Group highlights the strong trust and satisfaction Filipino citizens hold towards the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as 2024 draws to a close. Achieving an impressive net trust rating of +73% and a net satisfaction rating of +74%, the AFP stands out as a leading government institution.
The survey, known as Tugon ng Masa, reveals that 75% of adult Filipinos place their trust in the AFP, with a mere 2% expressing distrust. This positions the military as one of the nation’s most reliable entities in 2024. Additionally, when evaluating overall performance, 76% of respondents express satisfaction with the military’s achievements.
The distribution of trust varies across regions, with the highest ratings found in the Cordillera Administrative Region (+100), Negros Island (+99), Zamboanga Peninsula (+97), and Bicol Region (+95). Despite this, only a minority in Cagayan Valley and 13% in the Bangsamoro region show notable levels of distrust towards the AFP.
These insights are derived from a survey commissioned by the AFP’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 participants aged 18 and over between November 10-16, 2024. The survey’s results carry a ±3% margin of error within a 95% confidence interval, adjusting for regional variables across Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
