Rainy Weather Forecast for Various Philippine Regions Due to Amihan and Easterlies

·

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted continued rainfall across several regions due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, known locally as amihan, and the easterlies.

Regions such as Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental are expected to see scattered rains and thunderstorms brought on by the easterlies. PAGASA warns that these areas could face flash floods or landslides due to the intensity of the rainfall.

The northeast monsoon will also affect Luzon, bringing rain to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, with lighter, isolated showers expected elsewhere on the island.

Across the rest of the Philippines, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated due to the easterlies, according to PAGASA.

In the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao, moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters are expected. Other areas will experience lighter winds and calmer seas.

As of the latest update at 2 a.m., no low pressure areas were detected that could develop into tropical cyclones, PAGASA reported.
