In a move to bolster community ties and empower young individuals, the Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) has initiated a scholarship program named ‘Project LOVE’ (Law Enforcement Officers Volunteers for Education). This program is designed to assist criminology students financially while fostering a stronger commitment to community development and youth empowerment. The first recipients of this scholarship are Jester Nacional from Dolores village in San Sebastian, Samar, and Kyre Zadrix Doinog from Basud village in Calbayog City, Samar, both studying at Samar College, Inc., in Catbalogan City. Selection for the scholarship is based on the students’ academic achievements and their family’s economic situation. On February 21, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the SPPO and Samar College to officially launch the program. Colonel Antonietto Eric Mendoza, the SPPO provincial director, highlighted the significance of education and community collaboration in nurturing the future of law enforcement.
