In a significant development in the investigation into the murder of a doctor in Naga City, the Bicol Police Regional Office (PRO-5) has officially charged the suspect, Raymart Martinez, with murder. The 34-year-old from Barangay Concepcion Pequeña was the boyfriend of the victim, Dr. Rajean Monnette Romualdez, who was discovered deceased in her parked car on February 16. The case was presented to the city prosecutor’s office on February 21, with assistance from the Naga City Police Office in preparing witness affidavits. Currently, Martinez is detained by the National Bureau of Investigation as his case is being pre-evaluated. He turned himself in on February 19, just before what would have been Dr. Romualdez’s 37th birthday. Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon of PRO-5 mentioned that details about the motive cannot be shared at this point, as the case is under review by the prosecutor. A dedicated team is working to speed up the investigation into the death of the 36-year-old Bicol Medical Center physician, who was a graduate of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Dr. Romualdez suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was found near the hospital on Princeton Street.
