In a heart-stopping incident, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Air Unit sprang into action to rescue a flight instructor and a student pilot after their Piper Tomahawk aircraft suffered a sudden malfunction mid-flight. The dramatic event unfolded on February 19, 2025, when the training plane, operated by Fliteline Aviation, was forced to make an emergency landing in an open field in Barangay Langlagan, Plaridel, Bulacan.

Upon receiving a distress call, the PNP Air Unit wasted no time, arriving at the scene within minutes to secure the safety of Captain Valentin Torres III and student pilot David Cabrera. Miraculously, both individuals emerged from the ordeal unscathed, a testament to the swift and professional response of the PNP team.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil praised the unit’s heroic efforts, linking their actions to the President’s vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’—a government dedicated to efficient and proactive service for its citizens. Marbil highlighted the bravery and quick thinking of the PNP pilots, emphasizing their commitment to serving and protecting the public, even in the skies.

Echoing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s emphasis on efficient law enforcement and public service, Marbil reaffirmed the PNP’s dedication to maintaining public trust through their readiness to respond swiftly and professionally in emergencies.
