Triple Threat: Three Weather Systems Set to Drench the Philippines on Thursday

·

MANILA – The Philippines is bracing for a wet Thursday as three distinct weather systems converge to unleash a deluge across various regions, according to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The shear line is expected to cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in the Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Caraga, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon. Particularly heavy to intense rainfall is anticipated in Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, with moderate to heavy rains expected in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan,’ will bring rains to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora. These areas are at risk of flash floods and landslides due to the expected moderate to heavy rainfall. The rest of Luzon will see isolated light rains from the northeast monsoon, while the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. PAGASA also warns of strong winds and rough seas in the northern and eastern sections of Luzon, with moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters in the rest of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao. The rest of the archipelago will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. As of early morning, no low pressure areas were monitored that could develop into tropical cyclones, PAGASA reported.
