In a vibrant display of support for the Filipino workforce, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, to oversee the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas job fair. The event, held on February 20, 2025, saw 27 job seekers being hired on the spot, a moment Marcos celebrated with enthusiasm. He congratulated the new hires and expressed his hope that more attendees would secure employment, paving the way for a brighter future.
Marcos highlighted the success of one job seeker who was already wearing a ‘Hired on the Spot’ (HOTS) T-shirt upon his arrival, symbolizing immediate employment. He extended his congratulations and good luck to all participants, emphasizing the skill and talent of Filipino workers, which he believes will lead them to find rewarding jobs.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to aiding Filipinos in need, particularly those struggling to find work. He stressed the importance of not just any job, but one that offers a promising future. Marcos’s vision is to enhance the livelihoods of Filipino families and, by extension, improve the nation as a whole.
The job fair, a collaborative effort between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), aims to empower graduates of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) by providing them with employment opportunities, livelihood assistance, and essential support services. This year, the government plans to support 4.4 million household beneficiaries.
In Dumaguete, 15 employers offered over 1,700 job vacancies to approximately 3,000 job seekers, who are also beneficiaries of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation Program. Additionally, job seekers had access to pre-employment documentation and advisory services from various government agencies.
