In a significant relief effort, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Bicol Region provided food assistance to more than 5,000 families in Camarines Sur. The distribution took place on February 18, 2025, targeting residents impacted by severe weather conditions caused by a shear line. The aid, valued at over PHP3.2 million, was distributed across 16 island barangays in Garchitorena, where 4,434 families received essential food packs. Additionally, 635 families from the barangays of Salog and Tamban in Goa also benefited from the relief effort. The shear line had led to heavy rainfall and flooding, severely disrupting the livelihoods of the affected families. The DSWD Bicol continues its commitment to supporting those affected by weather disturbances across the region, ensuring that aid reaches those most in need.
