In a significant relief effort, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Bicol Region (DSWD-5) has provided over PHP3.2 million in family food packs to more than 5,000 families in Camarines Sur. The distribution took place across 16 island barangays in Garchitorena and two barangays in Goa, targeting those hardest hit by the recent shear line weather disturbances.
The shear line, which caused relentless heavy rainfall and extensive flooding, severely disrupted the livelihoods of many families in the region. DSWD-5’s report highlighted that 4,434 families from the island barangays in Garchitorena and an additional 635 families from Barangays Salog and Tamban in Goa received the much-needed food assistance.
The DSWD Bicol Region continues its commitment to supporting families affected by adverse weather conditions, ensuring that relief efforts are effectively reaching those in dire need across the region.
