MANILA – On Wednesday, a variety of weather systems will bring rain to numerous regions across the Philippines. The shear line is expected to cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), heavy to intense rainfall is anticipated in Isabela, while Cagayan, Quirino, and Aurora will see moderate to heavy rains. The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan,’ will bring rain to the Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley. The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will result in scattered rains and thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. Additionally, the easterlies will cause similar weather conditions in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Sorsogon, and Davao Oriental. PAGASA warns that these areas could face moderate to heavy rains, potentially leading to flash floods and landslides. In the Ilocos Region, isolated light rains are expected due to the northeast monsoon, while the rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. No low pressure areas are currently monitored for potential tropical cyclone development. Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon are expected to have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while other areas will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal conditions, according to PAGASA.
