MANILA – On Wednesday, an increased number of regions will see rainfall influenced by four active weather systems. The shear line is set to cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the shear line will bring heavy to intense rainfall to Isabela, and moderate to heavy rainfall to Cagayan, Quirino, and Aurora. The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will bring rain to the Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley. The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will result in scattered rains and thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. PAGASA also forecasts similar weather conditions in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Sorsogon, and Davao Oriental due to the easterlies. These areas are at risk of experiencing moderate to heavy rains, which could lead to flash floods and landslides. In the Ilocos Region, isolated light rains are expected due to the northeast monsoon, while the rest of the country may see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. No low pressure areas are currently being monitored for potential tropical cyclone development. PAGASA predicts moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters in Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon. In other areas, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate coastal waters.
