PhilHealth Davao Region Disburses P928 Million in Claims, Enhances Services

·

In a significant move to support its members, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Davao Region has disbursed a total of PHP928 million in claims from December 27, 2024, to January 31, 2025. This announcement was made by PhilHealth-11 vice president Harvey Carcedo during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas event in Davao City on February 19, 2025.

Carcedo highlighted the agency’s commitment to improving service delivery by reducing the average claims processing time to just 19 days in January. This initiative aims to ensure faster payments to healthcare providers and enhance patient access to quality care. Additionally, PhilHealth has been working on streamlining its reimbursement processes and addressing payment delays.

The agency has also made significant changes to its policies to better serve its members. One notable change is the elimination of the single-period confinement policy, which now offers more flexibility and broader coverage for members and their families. In a move to support solo parents, PhilHealth has extended coverage to them and their dependents, as outlined in Republic Act 10165, the Foster Care Act of 2012. This extension also includes foster children, ensuring they have access to essential healthcare services and reducing financial strain on foster families.

PhilHealth is also enforcing a ‘No Co-Payment Policy’ for patients in ward or basic accommodations, ensuring that members can fully benefit from their coverage without financial barriers. These changes are part of a broader effort to strengthen the foundation for Universal Health Care in the Philippines, emphasizing the right of every Filipino to quality and equitable healthcare. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reaffirmed that there will be no reduction in PhilHealth services.

Carcedo encouraged members to reach out to PhilHealth for any inquiries, emphasizing the agency’s openness to assist its members.
