The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) is contemplating legal action against officials in Pasay City due to the persistent presence of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) within the city. During a recent press briefing at the Palace, PAOCC director Winston Casio highlighted that the southern regions of Metro Manila, specifically Pasay, Parañaque, and Makati, are hotspots for illegal POGO activities. Casio revealed that the PAOCC is actively building cases against local government units (LGUs) in these areas following multiple POGO raids. Investigations are focusing on the potential involvement of Pasay City officials, particularly in the issuance of business permits and licenses. Casio detailed several raids conducted in Pasay, including operations at SA Rivendell, Zun Yuan Technology, Kimberhi Technology, and the Heritage Hotel. The PAOCC, in collaboration with the Department of Justice and the Department of the Interior and Local Government, is still determining the next steps but confirmed that the case buildup is ongoing. Meanwhile, Bureau of Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval reported that approximately 11,254 foreign POGO workers remain in the Philippines, defying the government’s order to leave after the industry’s closure. These workers, primarily from Vietnam, China, Indonesia, and Myanmar, are now classified as illegal aliens and face deportation charges. Sandoval noted that since the beginning of the year, 518 foreign POGO workers have been arrested in operations across Parañaque, Silang in Cavite, and Pasay City. Casio, who recently resumed his role as PAOCC spokesperson after a brief suspension, stated that he has returned to normal duties following an apology and undergoing anger management treatment.
