MANILA – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Special Class Business Process Outsourcing (SCBPO) companies, emphasizing their significant role in job creation for Filipinos. PAGCOR’s chair and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, expressed gratitude towards foreign investors for recognizing the exceptional skills of Filipino workers who deliver top-notch outsourced services.
Tengco explained that SCBPOs assist in the business operations of companies in other countries. These organizations, which are licensed by PAGCOR, specifically cater to gaming companies abroad. He clarified that SCBPOs differ from regular BPOs as they support the operations of legitimate overseas gaming companies, including listed firms, by offering services such as human resources, marketing, graphic design, accounting, and other back-office functions.
PAGCOR ensures that SCBPOs do not engage directly in gaming activities like taking or soliciting bets. Currently, the SCBPO sector employs nearly 5,000 local workers and has plans to expand both its operations and local recruitment. This expansion is driven by the recognition of Filipino talent by foreign principals managing these SCBPO companies.
SCBPOs are required to employ Filipinos for at least 95 percent of their workforce, providing high-quality job opportunities and salaries above industry standards. Tengco highlighted the industry’s potential and PAGCOR’s full commitment to its growth and its ability to create more employment opportunities for Filipinos.
