MANILA – The senatorial candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition are optimistic about achieving a complete victory in Metro Manila, buoyed by the full support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. In a press conference held in Pasay City, former senator Manny Pacquiao highlighted the significance of Marcos’ endorsement in their campaign strategy, emphasizing the importance of Metro Manila’s 7.32 million registered voters in the upcoming midterm elections. Pacquiao expressed confidence in the coalition’s ability to secure all seats, attributing their optimism to the President’s support and the coalition’s focus on programs aimed at uplifting the lives of the poor through job creation and livelihood opportunities. The coalition’s strong performance in Metro Manila during the 2022 elections, where Marcos won overwhelmingly, further fuels their confidence. Former senator Panfilo Lacson praised Marcos’ active participation in campaign events, noting that his presence significantly boosts voter confidence in Alyansa’s candidates. Former Senate President Vicente Sotto III and former Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. also expressed confidence in their prospects, citing past successes and the trust Filipinos have shown in Marcos. Senator Francis Tolentino and other coalition members, including Makati Mayor Abby Binay and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, underscored their contributions to Metro Manila’s development and their understanding of local issues such as traffic, inflation, and crime. Despite their strong position, House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo emphasized that the coalition remains vigilant and continues to engage with voters across the country. The Alyansa’s senatorial slate includes incumbent Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Imee Marcos, who have been actively campaigning with President Marcos leading rallies in various regions.
