A devastating head-on collision on the national highway in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, resulted in the death of four individuals and left thirteen others injured on a Sunday afternoon. The incident involved a private commuter van and a pick-up truck, occurring around 3 p.m. near a roundabout, as reported by Capt. Lamberto Rabino of the General Santos City Traffic Enforcement Unit. The van’s driver, Rasol Angkob Adam, aged 56, along with three senior citizen passengers from Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, were pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Additionally, eight other senior citizens from the van sustained injuries. In the pick-up truck, the casualties included driver Harvey Collado, 36, his wife, and their three children aged 13, 9, and 2, all from Tampakan, South Cotabato. The collision was triggered when the pick-up truck attempted an overtaking maneuver, leading to a catastrophic impact that severely damaged both vehicles. The injured are currently under medical care in various hospitals across General Santos City. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the full details of the accident and to implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
