Tragic Highway Collision in General Santos City Claims Four Lives, Injures 13

In a devastating incident on the national highway in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City, a head-on collision between a private commuter van and a pick-up truck resulted in the death of four individuals and injuries to 13 others on Sunday afternoon. The accident, which occurred around 3 p.m. near the Barangay Apopong roundabout, involved a van driven by Rasol Angkob Adam, 56, and a pick-up truck driven by Harvey Collado, 36. Among the deceased were the van driver and three senior citizens from Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte. The injured included eight other senior citizens from the van, as well as Collado, his wife, and their three children aged 13, 9, and 2, all from Tampakan, South Cotabato. According to Capt. Lamberto Rabino of the General Santos City Traffic Enforcement Unit, the collision was caused when the pick-up truck attempted to overtake another vehicle by switching lanes, leading to the fatal crash. The impact left both vehicles severely damaged, with their front portions, hoods, bumpers, and engines deformed. The injured are currently being treated at various hospitals in General Santos City, while authorities continue to investigate the incident to prevent future occurrences.
