Multiple Weather Systems to Bring Rain Across the Philippines on Monday

·

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that several regions of the Philippines will see rainfall on Monday, influenced by four distinct weather systems. The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, is expected to bring rain to Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao. Meanwhile, the shear line will cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Isabela and Aurora. The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will affect Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi with similar weather conditions. PAGASA has warned that these areas might experience moderate to heavy rains, which could lead to flash floods or landslides. The rest of the country will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. PAGASA also cautioned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides. As of early Monday morning, no low pressure areas were being monitored for potential tropical cyclone development. Northern Luzon is expected to have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while other parts of the country will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.
