In a significant operation on Valentine’s Day, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended three Chinese nationals in Calamba, Laguna, following a tip from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). The arrests were made in Barangay Milagrosa, where the individuals were allegedly involved in illegal online gambling and prostitution activities within their premises. This action is part of a broader initiative by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration to intensify efforts against foreign nationals participating in illegal activities within the Philippines. Intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. disclosed that two of the arrested were on tourist visas but lacked proper documentation, while the third was working in Makati City on a valid visa. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado emphasized the agency’s commitment to enhancing border security and targeting foreigners who misuse their stay in the country. The operation, conducted with the assistance of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, underscores the BI’s resolve to enforce immigration laws and support the government’s fight against organized crime. The suspects are currently detained at PAOCC’s facility in Pasay City, awaiting deportation proceedings.
