Valentine’s Day Health Caravan Brings Free Services to Bacolod City Residents

·

On Valentine’s Day, the ‘Lab for All’ health caravan made a significant impact in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, serving 232 residents with a range of free healthcare services. The initiative, part of the Bagong Pilipinas mobile clinic program, offered essential medical consultations, medications, and various laboratory tests, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and electrocardiograms, as well as screenings for blood sugar, hemoglobin, uric acid, and cholesterol levels.

Mae Cuaycong, the focal person for the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP), announced plans to extend these services to more remote areas of the city, ensuring broader access to healthcare. The caravan also facilitated applications for BacCHP membership and provided educational sessions on nutrition, specifically targeting women of reproductive age with the Pinggang Pinoy food guide.

The event saw collaboration from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and the Department of Health, enhancing the range of services available to attendees. The mobile clinic, a gift from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos during their visit in June of the previous year, embodies the First Lady’s ‘Lab for All’ initiative, aimed at delivering healthcare to underserved communities.
