In a recent operation in Cebu, two minors from Barangay Cadulawan, Talisay City, were rescued from a harrowing ordeal of online sexual abuse. The perpetrator, who connected with the victims via Facebook, is currently being pursued by law enforcement. The suspect, identified through the victims’ accounts and photographic evidence, is located outside of Central Visayas.
The abuse came to light when the victims’ parents noticed the inappropriate video calls and reported the incidents to the police. C/Master Sgt. Shindey Taboco from the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Talisay City Police Office confirmed that the suspect engaged in lewd acts during these calls.
Col. Lemuel Gonda of RACU-7 stated that with the suspect’s identity and location now known, legal action and further operations are being planned. The rescued minors have been handed over to the City Social Welfare Department of Talisay City for necessary psychological support and intervention.
In response to this incident, authorities are urging parents to closely monitor their children’s online activities, particularly on social media platforms like Facebook. Sgt. Taboco emphasized the importance of parental oversight to prevent such abuses, advising parents to maintain access to their children’s accounts and regularly check their online interactions and settings.
