In a significant relief effort, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has provided more than PHP3.3 million in assistance to families impacted by the shear line in Camarines Sur and Catanduanes. The distribution took place earlier this week, offering much-needed support to affected communities.
According to a DSWD-5 report released on Friday, a total of 4,554 family food packs were distributed across several villages. In Camarines Sur, the villages of Matacla received 1,688 packs, Catagbacan got 1,242, Tabgon was allocated 577, Balaynan received 524, and San Isidro West was given 523 packs. This initiative underscores the agency’s dedication to fulfilling President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s mandate for swift relief to those affected by natural disasters.
The shear line had left families unable to work for over a week, necessitating the urgent delivery of food assistance to meet their basic needs. In Panganiban, Catanduanes, 265 families from the villages of Babaguan, Panay, and Maculiw, who were cut off by flooding, also received aid. Specifically, Babaguan received 62 packs, Panay got 102, and Maculiw was allocated 101 packs, helping to alleviate the hardships faced by these isolated communities.
