On Valentine’s Day, the ‘Lab for All’ health caravan, inspired by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’s initiative, provided free healthcare services to 232 residents of Barangay Villamonte in Bacolod City. The event, held on February 14, 2025, featured a range of services including medical consultations, free medicines, and various laboratory tests, all facilitated by the Bagong Pilipinas mobile clinic.
Mae Cuaycong, the focal person for the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP), announced plans to extend these services to more remote areas of the city, ensuring broader access to essential healthcare. The mobile clinic, which was a gift from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the First Lady during their visit in June of the previous year, is equipped to perform X-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, and tests for urinalysis, fasting blood sugar, hemoglobin, uric acid, and cholesterol.
In addition to medical services, the caravan in Barangay Villamonte offered opportunities for residents to enroll or renew their BacCHP membership and provided educational sessions on the Pinggang Pinoy food guide, specifically targeting women of reproductive age. Support was also extended by personnel from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and the Department of Health, enhancing the range of services available to the community.
The ‘Lab for All’ initiative, which translates to ‘Laboratory, Consultation, and Medicine for All,’ aims to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility, bringing vital services directly to the doorsteps of those in need across the Philippines.
