Philippines Braces for Widespread Rainfall on Thursday Due to Multiple Weather Systems

·

MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that three distinct weather systems will cause widespread rain across the Philippines on Thursday. The shear line is expected to bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) impacting Mindanao will lead to similar weather conditions in Caraga, Davao Region, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon. Additionally, the easterlies are set to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Visayas, Bicol Region, and Romblon. PAGASA warns that these areas might experience moderate to heavy rains, which could trigger flash floods or landslides. The rest of the country can expect isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. In the northern and eastern parts of Northern Luzon, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are anticipated. Other regions will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate sea conditions. PAGASA also noted that a low pressure area (LPA) located 430 kilometers northwest of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan, has a low probability of developing into a tropical cyclone.
