The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), responsible for managing the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has recently onboarded 342 new screening personnel to enhance security measures. These individuals, all certified by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), include 195 screeners for non-passengers, 18 supervisors for non-passenger areas, and 129 screeners focused on access control. According to Kim Marquez from OTS, these new hires have undergone training at institutions accredited by the OTS. Non-passengers, which include airport employees and crew members, are overseen by the non-passenger supervisors who ensure security protocols are followed in their designated areas. Meanwhile, the access control screeners are tasked with verifying identification, access passes, and tickets to regulate entry into the airport’s terminals and restricted zones. A recent social media update from OTS emphasized that the certification of these additional staff members guarantees their ability to fulfill aviation security duties effectively. OTS Administrator Crizaldo Nieves highlighted that this certification reflects their readiness to meet both international and national security standards, thereby enhancing safety for all passengers at Manila’s airport.
