Manila’s New Pharmacy Warehouse Project Breaks Ground

In a significant move to enhance healthcare services, Manila’s city government has initiated the construction of a new pharmacy warehouse in the Pandacan district. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on February 12, 2025, was led by Mayor Honey Lacuna, alongside 6th District Representative Bienvenido Abante Jr., and Manila Health Department chief Arnold Pangan. This project, a collaborative effort with the Department of Health (DOH), aims to improve access to affordable medicines for the city’s residents.

Mayor Lacuna, who is also a doctor, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it aligns with her commitment to prioritizing health services. She highlighted that the new warehouse will be the largest in the city, a testament to the city’s dedication to healthcare improvement. Additionally, the mayor announced the ongoing construction of the Isidro Mendoza Health Center, expected to be completed by April 2025, further bolstering the city’s health infrastructure.

The ceremony also saw the presence of Health Undersecretary Emmie Liza Perez-Chiong, underscoring the national support for Manila’s healthcare initiatives. Mayor Lacuna expressed gratitude towards Congressman Abante and the DOH for their crucial support in realizing this project, which she believes will significantly benefit the community by providing easier access to essential medications.
