The event, coinciding with the 46th founding anniversary of the province, was filled with a variety of engaging activities and competitions at the Capitol Grounds in Barangay Suklayin.

The festival showcased several key events, including the ‘Karosang Kalabaw: Likha ng Sining at Bayanihan,’ a parade and float competition featuring decorated carabaos. Other highlights included the ‘Search for Panlalawigang Kalabaw ni Juan,’ a contest to find the best carabao based on costume, talent, and body conformation, and the ‘Best Upgraded Carabao’ competition, which celebrated the enhancement of these animals. Additionally, the ‘Kalabaw Pintados: Obra ng Kabukiran’ body painting contest and the ‘Bakas ng Kalabaw sa Likod ng Lente’ photography contest added artistic flair to the festivities. The culinary aspect was not overlooked, with the ‘Kalabaw Kulinarya: Timplang Aurora’ cooking competition showcasing dishes made from carabao meat.

Dr. Ericson Dela Cruz from the Philippine Carabao Center – Central Luzon State University (PCC-CLSU) delivered a keynote speech, highlighting the multifaceted roles of carabaos in farming, milk production, and even in the creation of leather goods like bags, shoes, and notebooks. He noted the auspicious rain during the event as a sign of blessing.

Governor Reynante Tolentino also spoke at the festival, honoring the carabao as the steadfast companion of farmers. He emphasized the theme ‘Tribute to the Heroic Partner of Juan in Agriculture,’ acknowledging the sacrifices of farmers and the crucial role carabaos play in ensuring food security and supporting livelihoods. Tolentino committed to furthering programs that bolster the agricultural sector for a more prosperous future in Aurora.

In a significant announcement, PCC-CLSU pledged to donate two male carabaos to the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), aiming to enhance local livelihood programs. The festival, organized under the guidance of the Provincial Veterinary Office led by Dr. Angelo Silvestre, was a testament to the community’s dedication to celebrating and preserving the integral role of carabaos in their society.
