MANILA – The head of the National Capital Region Police Office, Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, has initiated an investigation into Taguig City’s police chief, Col. Joey Goforth, following an incident where officers reportedly entered a residence without a search warrant on February 5. Aberin has stated that Goforth’s potential responsibility will be part of the broader investigation involving 10 officers accused of conducting searches without warrants. In a statement to the Philippine News Agency, Aberin mentioned, ‘I have ordered an investigation into the chief of police to determine if he is liable or negligent in his duties.’ On Tuesday, Aberin announced the suspension of the 10 officers to ensure an unbiased and thorough investigation. He emphasized the NCRPO’s commitment to upholding the law, transparency, and professionalism. Aberin vowed to ensure the dismissal of any officers found guilty, stating, ‘Individuals like them do not belong in the Philippine National Police.’ He added that those found guilty could face penalties ranging from suspension and demotion to dismissal or criminal charges. A widely circulated video claimed that officers in ‘Block 5’ frequently conduct weekend raids without warrants.
