The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the initial day of the 90-day campaign period for national candidates passed without significant disturbances. According to the PNP’s National Election Monitoring Action Center (NEMAC), the country experienced a calm start to the election season. The PNP encouraged candidates, their supporters, and the public to maintain peace and adhere to legal standards as the campaign for the May 12 elections continues. Nationwide, PNP personnel are committed to enforcing election laws, including the gun ban, in collaboration with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other relevant agencies. The PNP emphasized its dedication to ensuring a safe, orderly, and credible electoral process, urging citizens to report any election-related issues to local police or through designated communication channels.
