MANILA – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has proudly launched the 20th edition of its National Art Competition, celebrating two decades of promoting Filipino artistic talent and safeguarding the country’s cultural heritage. GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso emphasized that this significant milestone underscores the organization’s dedication to the arts and culture of the Philippines.
Veloso highlighted that the competition not only fosters artistic innovation but also showcases the narratives, dreams, and traditions that shape the Filipino identity. He stressed that supporting local artists is integral to building the nation through cultural expression.
A cornerstone of the Philippine art community, the competition is divided into representational and non-representational categories, encouraging a wide range of artistic expressions while celebrating Filipino creativity. In collaboration with the Art Association of the Philippines, the event is open to artists aged 18 and over, with no restrictions on theme, allowing participants to express their personal visions freely.
Veloso noted that the competition has played a crucial role in discovering exceptional talent and enriching the nation’s artistic heritage. Each piece submitted becomes a permanent part of the country’s cultural narrative.
Artists interested in participating can find submission details on the GSIS website and the GSIS Museo ng Sining’s Facebook page. Physical submissions will be accepted at the GSIS Gymnasium in Pasay City on April 26, and the winners will be revealed in June.
Outstanding artworks will be added to the esteemed GSIS art collection at the Museo ng Sining in Pasay City.
