In a significant move to uplift the underprivileged, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Central Visayas, together with the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), have initiated a collaborative effort to support 100 families in Cebu and Bohol. The agreement, signed by DOLE-7 Director Roy Buenafe and PCUP Commissioner Reynaldo Galupo, focuses on delivering ‘Nego-livelihood’ projects to these families. These projects are designed to be distributed in phases, ensuring direct benefits to the recipients. Buenafe expressed appreciation for PCUP’s role in connecting with the urban poor, emphasizing the alignment of their missions to aid the less fortunate. The initiative is slated for completion within the current year. Meanwhile, Galupo highlighted the urgency of their efforts, noting DOLE’s responsiveness to their initiatives. He also mentioned upcoming livelihood projects in Matabungkay, Batangas; General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite; and Zamboanga, Mindanao. Last November, a similar effort saw DOLE and PCUP distributing 85 livelihood projects in the National Capital Region.
