In a significant drug bust in Cebu City, a 49-year-old welder was apprehended with PHP13.6 million worth of illegal substances during an early morning operation on Wednesday. The operation took place around 1:35 a.m. in Sitio Kamanggahan, Barangay Labangon, where authorities successfully cornered the suspect. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), along with Naval Forces Central, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Cebu City Police Office Station 10, and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, collaborated to execute the sting operation. The suspect was found in possession of approximately two kilograms of shabu. Additional items seized included buy-bust money, packaging materials, a cellular phone, and a motorcycle used by the suspect. Following the arrest, the evidence was sent to the PDEA-7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis and further processing. The suspect had been under surveillance for three weeks, prompted by a tip from an informant who reported that the welder was capable of selling half a kilo of shabu weekly.
