74 Bacolod and Negros Occidental Barangays Honored with SGLG Awards

In a significant recognition of local governance, 74 barangays across Bacolod City and Negros Occidental have been awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) for the year 2024 by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). The DILG-Negros Occidental praised the 71 barangays in the province for their outstanding performance, highlighting their dedication to principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and superior public service.

The awardees span multiple cities and municipalities within the region. In Bago City, 13 barangays including Abuanan, Atipuluan, and Binubuhan were recognized. Cadiz City saw six of its barangays, such as Barangay 6 Poblacion and Burgos, receiving the award. Other notable recipients include Lo-ok in Calatrava, Camindangan in Cauayan, and several barangays in Himamaylan City and Hinigaran.

Further recipients include Dancalan in Ilog, Barangays 2 and 4 in Isabela, and San Miguel in La Carlota City. La Castellana, Manapla, Murcia, Pontevedra, and Pulupandan also had barangays honored. Sagay City, San Carlos City, Silay City, Talisay City, Toboso, and Victorias City rounded out the list of awardees with their respective barangays.

In Bacolod City, three barangays—Granada, Taculing, and Pahanocoy—were celebrated for their commitment to community empowerment, good governance, and sustainable development. The DILG-Bacolod City emphasized that this accolade reflects the barangays’ dedication to enhancing community life through effective governance and service delivery.

The SGLGB is awarded to barangays that excel in governance, transparency, accountability, and the efficient execution of community programs and services. The DILG noted that achieving national recognition underscores these barangays’ commitment to maintaining the highest standards of public service and governance.
