In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) reported a successful 48-hour operation that resulted in the seizure of PHP3.69 million worth of shabu and the arrest of 21 drug suspects. The operations, spanning from February 9 to 11, 2025, were highlighted by PRO 6 as a major step forward in their fight against illegal drugs.
The operations, which involved 15 separate actions by various police units, led to the confiscation of approximately 543 grams of shabu. Among those arrested, four were classified as high-value targets, while the remaining 17 were street-level operatives. Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Director of PRO 6, emphasized the ongoing commitment to eradicate illegal drugs and enhance collaboration with stakeholders.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office reported the largest drug haul, amounting to PHP3.2 million, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with PHP306,000, and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office with PHP82,000. In a related development, a one-day manhunt across the region on Monday led to the arrest of 61 wanted individuals, 17 of whom were on the ‘most wanted’ list.
All suspects are currently in police custody and will be handed over to the appropriate courts. In a separate incident in Pampanga, authorities intercepted a parcel at the UPS Freeport Zone in Clarkfield containing 1,282 grams of suspected shabu, valued at PHP8.7 million. The Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) identified the shipper as alias Jerry from the United States and the consignee as alias Alex from Cavite. Although no arrests were made, PDEG acting chief Col. Rolando Cuya praised the vigilance of the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (CRK-IADITG) in intercepting illegal shipments, underscoring the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating drug trafficking.
