The Philippine Navy has expressed its readiness to accept any assistance from allied nations to enhance its capabilities in warfare. This statement was made by PN spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos in response to an offer from the Royal Canadian Navy to train Filipino sailors in submarine operations. The offer came after a visit by a Canadian naval contingent to the Philippine Navy’s headquarters in Manila on February 7.
Alcos emphasized that the Navy is keen on developing its skills across all dimensions of warfare, including sea, air, land, and electronic warfare. He also highlighted the Navy’s interest in improving its capabilities in intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance, aligning with its goal to become a modern naval force capable of safeguarding the nation and contributing to regional stability.
In a related development, the Philippine Marine Corps’ 3rd Marine Brigade, in collaboration with Naval Forces West, executed an amphibious landing exercise at Long Beach in San Vicente, Palawan. The exercise was designed to improve the interoperability and maintain the operational readiness of the participating units.
The operation involved an amphibious landing supported by various naval units, including the Combat Support Brigade, Naval Special Operations Unit, Joint Special Operations Unit 1, and the Naval Combat Engineering Brigade. These units facilitated beach clearing and breaching operations, while the 61st Force Recon Company acted as the assaulting force. Following the landing, the troops advanced towards their objectives, overcoming obstacles and engaging in close-quarter combat to neutralize targets.
