In a vibrant show of political force, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. spearheaded the campaign launch of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The event, held on February 11, 2025, marked the official start of the coalition’s drive towards the May 12 elections, with all 12 senatorial candidates in attendance, eager to connect with the Ilocano electorate.
During a press conference at Arabella Events Place, eight candidates outlined their legislative agendas, which included initiatives for sustainable employment, free medication for the elderly, tax relief, tackling misinformation, and revising the Local Government Code. President Marcos, speaking at the proclamation rally, emphasized the completeness of the Alyansa slate, ranging from senators to local councilors, and praised the candidates as seasoned public servants.
Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc rallied his fellow Ilocanos to back the administration’s candidates, highlighting their contributions to the province and the importance of their support in continuing the Marcos administration’s initiatives. He stressed the solid unity of the northern region despite its smaller population.
Governor Manotoc also spoke of the alliance’s commitment to driving further progress across the nation in the remaining years of Marcos’ term. The 12 candidates endorsed by the coalition include notable figures such as former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr., Makati Mayor Abigail Binay, and Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos, and others.
The choice of Ilocos Norte, a stronghold of the Marcos family, for the campaign kickoff was strategic, aimed at solidifying support in Northern Luzon. Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco, the campaign manager for Alyansa, described the event as more than a launch—it was a reaffirmation of their dedication to the progress achieved under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership. He underscored Ilocos Norte’s role as a hub of transformative leadership and the coalition’s resolve to deliver results for all Filipinos.
Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas is a coalition of five major political parties: Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party, and National Unity Party.
