During his campaign launch in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, former senator and Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas candidate Panfilo Lacson underscored the importance of Ilocano values in building the nation. Speaking at a rally on February 11, 2025, Lacson highlighted the virtues of frugality, industriousness, and loyalty, which he referred to as the ‘3Ms’ of Ilocanos – masinop, masipag, and matapat.

Lacson expressed that these traits are not only characteristic of Ilocanos but could also serve as a model for the entire country’s progress. He shared his observations from visits to the Ilocos Region, noting the region’s people’s dedication to hard work and saving for their children’s future, alongside their unwavering loyalty.

He also praised three Ilocano figures in the government who exemplify these values: Juan Ponce Enrile, known for his frugality; Lucas Bersamin, recognized for his industriousness; and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., admired for his loyalty. Lacson expressed his desire to support President Marcos in his endeavors to ensure a prosperous future for the Philippines.

Reflecting on his past electoral success in Ilocos Norte during the 2016 senatorial elections, where he led in Laoag City and came second in the province, Lacson encouraged other candidates to focus on positive campaigning. He stressed the significance of integrity and merit, advocating for the Golden Rule and urging candidates to showcase their achievements and plans rather than resorting to negative tactics.
