DOST to Revolutionize Education in Davao de Oro with Digital Science Libraries

·

In a move to enhance educational resources, the Department of Science and Technology’s Provincial Science and Technology Office in Davao de Oro has announced plans to install digital science libraries in all public schools across the province. This initiative falls under the DOST’s STARBOOKS program, which is designed to offer offline access to a vast array of STEM-related materials, including books, journals, and educational videos.

Mayan Inni, the Director of DOST-Davao de Oro, highlighted that the project was facilitated by a recent agreement with the Department of Education in Davao de Oro, which was endorsed by 393 school principals. Inni expressed optimism that the STARBOOKS initiative would ignite a passion for science and technology among the youth, encouraging them to consider careers in these fields.

Phoebe Refamonte, the officer in charge at DepEd-Davao de Oro Schools Division, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting that it represents a significant step forward in using technology to improve education and community development.

The STARBOOKS program, spearheaded by the DOST’s Science and Technology Information Institute, aims to bring modern scientific and technical resources to areas that are typically underserved. The introduction of STARBOOKS in Davao de Oro is a testament to DOST’s dedication to narrowing the digital divide and enhancing educational opportunities for Filipino students through cutting-edge tools.
