Angkas CEO Praised for Accountability in Cainta Road-Blocking Incident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) commended Angkas CEO George Royeca for his accountability and cooperation in the investigation of a road-blocking incident in Cainta, Rizal. The event, which occurred on February 2, 2025, involved Angkas riders blocking an intersection to allow a motorcade to pass, despite a red light. The incident was captured on a dashcam and widely shared on social media platforms.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II issued a show cause order to Royeca, who promptly took full responsibility during a hearing at the LTO Central Office. Royeca’s proactive stance was highlighted as a commendable example for other leaders, especially given his significant social media following. Mendoza expressed hope that other leaders would emulate Royeca’s sense of responsibility to enhance road safety and prevent similar incidents.

During the hearing, Royeca apologized and committed to implementing measures to ensure such incidents do not recur. He emphasized Angkas’s commitment to safety and adherence to road rules, stating that no one, including himself, is above the law.

The riders involved in the incident are under investigation for violating Section 27 of Republic Act 4136, which pertains to improper operation of a motor vehicle. Mendoza noted that the case would be resolved swiftly due to Royeca’s cooperation.

The motorcade was en route to the ‘Unity Ride’ on Marilaque Highway, an event aimed at promoting safety for all road users.
