MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that three distinct weather systems will bring rain across the Philippines on Monday. The shear line is expected to cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Aurora. Similarly, Caraga will experience the same weather conditions due to the influence of easterlies. These easterlies will also bring rain to Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and Calabarzon. PAGASA has warned that these areas might see moderate to heavy rains, which could lead to flash floods or landslides. Additionally, the northeast monsoon will bring isolated light rains to the rest of Luzon, while the easterlies will cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of Mindanao, particularly in the afternoon or evening. The risk of flash floods or landslides is heightened during severe thunderstorms, according to the 4 a.m. advisory from PAGASA. Furthermore, strong to gale winds and rough to very rough seas are expected in Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas. The rest of Luzon and Visayas will face moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while Mindanao will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
