Philippine Army commander Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido recently visited the 101st Infantry ‘Three Red Arrows’ Brigade at their headquarters in Camp Luis Biel II, Barangay Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan. During his visit, Galido praised the troops for their unwavering discipline, dedication, and the sacrifices they make to ensure the safety and security of Basilan’s residents. He specifically acknowledged the brigade’s efforts in community engagement and their crucial support for the ongoing Bangsamoro peace process, which is currently in its normalization phase.

Col. Louie Dema-ala, the spokesperson for the Philippine Army, relayed that Galido’s visit was an opportunity to boost the morale and welfare of the troops. The Army chief emphasized the importance of leadership and empowerment among non-commissioned officers, and announced updates on new uniforms and additional subsistence allowances. Galido stressed the hazardous nature of their work, underscoring the significant compensation they receive, but warned against complacency. He posed a poignant question to the troops about the readiness of their families for the potential consequences of their high-risk duties.
