·

In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall caused by a shear line, the local government of Camalig in Albay is vigilantly monitoring its river systems for potential flooding and lahar threats. Tim Florece, the town’s information officer, shared in a phone interview that while river levels are currently normal, they are nearing alert levels in certain areas due to the relentless rain. The monitored river channels span across the barangays of Comun, Cotmon, Taladong, Salugan, Ilawod, Libod, and Tagaytay, with additional focus on lahar-vulnerable zones in Barangay Anoling, Quirangay, Sua, and Tumpa. Florece confirmed that the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office has personnel ready to respond to any emergencies. So far, no lahar flows or evacuations have been reported, but the situation is under constant surveillance. The town has also prepared vehicles and staff to safeguard residents. Residents are urged to remain alert and can reach out to the Camalig Command Center or the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office for any urgent needs or concerns.
